Edit this portrait to look like a professional studio shot. Keep the exact face and identity — refine the lighting to soft even studio-style illumination, smooth skin naturally without removing character, clean up the background to a neutral seamless backdrop. No heavy retouching. Commercial portrait quality.
Replace the background of this photo with a clean white seamless studio backdrop. Keep the subject exactly as they are — same lighting on the subject, sharp edges, no halo or fringing. The subject should look like they were photographed in a professional white studio from the start.
Edit the lighting in this outdoor photo to match the golden hour magic of the last 30 minutes before sunset. Warm amber-gold highlights, soft shadows with a slight orange undertone, a hint of atmospheric haze on the horizon. Keep all subjects and the composition exactly the same — only the light quality and colour tone change.
Edit this product photo for an e-commerce listing. Remove the background and replace with a pure white (#FFFFFF) seamless background. Adjust lighting to even, professional product-photography style illumination — no shadows on the subject, but add a subtle soft shadow beneath it for grounding. Keep the product exactly as-is.
Remove the [unwanted object] from this photo and fill in the background naturally as if it was never there. Match the surrounding colours, textures, and lighting patterns precisely. The result should look like a clean, unaltered photo — not like something was removed and patched.
Re-light this portrait with a dramatic single-source side light from the left — strong directional light catching the near side of the face, deep shadow on the far side, Rembrandt-style lighting triangle under the far eye. Keep the exact face and identity. Moody and cinematic. Black or dark grey background.
Apply a teal-and-orange cinematic colour grade to this photo. Warm orange-amber on skin tones and highlights, deep teal-green in shadows and the background. High contrast, slightly crushed blacks, rich and bold. Keep the composition and all subjects the same — only the colour grade changes. Hollywood blockbuster look.
Restore this old or damaged photo. Repair any scratches, tears, stains, or fading. Restore natural colour if it's faded or yellowed, sharpen detail where it's blurry, and reduce grain noise. Keep all faces and identities exactly as they appear — no face enhancement or beautification. The goal is faithful historical restoration.
Edit the clothing in this photo: change the [clothing item] to [target colour]. Keep the fabric texture, folds, and lighting on the garment realistic and consistent with the overall lighting in the photo. Do not alter the person's face, body shape, or any other element of the image.
Replace the sky in this outdoor photo with a dramatic sunset sky — layered warm clouds in deep orange, magenta, and purple with a clear gradient toward the horizon. Match the sky lighting to the foreground — warm reflected light on surfaces that face upward. Keep all foreground elements exactly the same.
Edit this interior photo to look like a professionally styled real estate listing shot. Adjust the white balance to natural daylight, even out the exposure across the room, remove any clutter or distracting objects, enhance the colour saturation slightly for warmth. Keep all furniture and architecture as-is. Real estate photography quality.
Edit this food photo for a restaurant menu or delivery app listing. Enhance the colour saturation to make the food look vivid and appetising, adjust lighting for even warm illumination highlighting the texture, sharpen the main dish, and replace the background with a clean neutral surface or warm wood. Keep the food composition exactly the same.
Edit this photo into a professional LinkedIn headshot. Clean neutral or soft gradient background, even professional lighting with a slight warm key light, natural and approachable expression preserved, clothing looking sharp and professional. Keep the exact face and identity — only lighting, background, and minor presentation refinements. Confidence-inspiring and approachable.
Apply a selective colour effect to this photo: convert the entire image to black and white, then restore the natural colour of [specific subject, e.g., 'the red roses', 'the blue dress', 'the subject's eyes'] only. High-contrast monochrome everywhere else, vivid natural colour on the selected element. Sharp transitions between colour and black-and-white.
Edit this night or low-light photo to look like it was taken in clear daylight. Adjust exposure and colour to natural daylight levels, replace or dramatically brighten the sky to a clear blue with soft clouds, balance all lighting for a clean midday look. Keep all subjects, composition, and architecture exactly the same.
Edit this portrait to remove the distracting background elements. Replace the background with a clean, softly blurred (bokeh) version of a neutral outdoor or indoor setting — soft trees, an architectural wall, or a simple gradient. Keep the subject sharp and precisely cut out, matching the ambient light direction on the subject. Natural and professional.
Upscale and sharpen this photo for high-resolution print output. Increase the apparent resolution, sharpen fine details (hair, fabric, architectural edges) without creating harsh halos, reduce digital noise and compression artifacts. Keep all colours and tones natural — no style changes. The result should look like a high-resolution original capture.
Apply professional natural skin retouching to this portrait. Remove temporary blemishes and redness only. Keep pores, skin texture, natural shadows, and the character of the skin visible — no wax-skin or over-smoothed result. Soften under-eye shadows slightly. The result should look like the subject on a great day, not like a heavily filtered photo.
Change the colour of the [garment / product] in this photo from [current colour] to [new target colour]. Keep the fabric sheen, shadow depth, and fold highlights consistent with the new colour. Preserve all other elements — the model, background, and all other items. The colour change should look like a real garment in that colour, not a flat paint-bucket fill.
Create a side-by-side before/after comparison from this photo. Left half: the original photo as-is, no edits. Right half: a professionally edited version — corrected exposure, colour grade, and clean background. Add a clean white dividing line in the centre. Portrait orientation (2:3). Suitable for Instagram or TikTok 'transformation' format.

MAI Image 2.7 (also called MAI-Image-2.7-Preview) is Microsoft's latest AI image editing model, released on October 27, 2026. It is currently a preview focused on image editing — background removal, portrait retouching, colour grading, object removal, and style editing. Text-to-image generation is planned but not yet available. It reached #2 on the Artificial Analysis image editing leaderboard at launch (Elo 1193), just behind GPT Image 2.5 Sunburst, and #3 on the Arena image-edit board.
MAI Image 2.7 is available for free in preview on Microsoft's MAI Playground at playground.microsoft.ai — sign in with a Microsoft account. It's also available to try on Artificial Analysis's image benchmarking platform. An API and Microsoft Foundry integration are expected later, but no date has been given. As a preview, usage may be limited by daily credit allowances.
MAI Image 2.7 and GPT Image 2.5 Sunburst are extremely close on the Artificial Analysis leaderboard — Sunburst scores 1199 versus MAI Image 2.7 at 1193. For portrait editing, MAI Image 2.7 has received strong reviews for detail preservation and text rendering accuracy. GPT Image 2.5 Flare remains the faster default for most editing tasks. For detailed portrait or commercial editing, MAI Image 2.7 is worth testing — especially since it's free on the MAI Playground.
Not yet as of October 2026. MAI Image 2.7 is currently an editing-only model in preview — it works with an uploaded image and modifies it based on text instructions. Microsoft has confirmed text-to-image generation is in development but hasn't given a release date. For text-to-image, use the earlier MAI Image 2.6 or 2.5 models, which both support generation from text.
The most effective MAI Image 2.7 editing prompts are specific about what to change and what to preserve. Always say exactly what you want removed, replaced, or adjusted, and add a sentence like 'keep the subject's exact face and identity' or 'keep all other elements the same.' For portrait editing, describe the lighting style you want (studio, golden hour, Rembrandt). For product photos, specify the background colour and shadow style. The 20 prompts on this page are optimised for MAI Image 2.7's editing strengths.
MAI Image 2.7 scored 42 Elo points higher than MAI Image 2.6 on the Artificial Analysis benchmark and debuted at #2 overall in image editing, compared to MAI Image 2.6's position. The 2.7 version shows improvements in fine detail preservation, complex masking (like hair and fur edges), and lighting consistency after background replacements. The 2.7 model is editing-only in preview, while MAI Image 2.6 supports both editing and text-to-image generation.
